Zweirad Joos, a long-established bicycle and e-bike retailer based in Radolfzell, is riding high on the wave of surging demand for sustainable transport. With a business model that successfully blends traditional retail and a thriving e-commerce operation, the company now employs 150 permanent staff to manage the distribution of around 15,000 bicycles annually. These are distributed to its various outlets and direct to online customers from a strategically located logistics centre in Gottmadingen, owned by Mileway, the leading pan-European last mile logistics real estate company.

Mileway’s  logistics hub has been instrumental in supporting Zweirad Joos’ growth. The company has recently celebrated its 60th anniversary by renewing its c. 4,100 sqm lease at the industrial park, reaffirming the importance of the site in its supply chain. More than 15,000 bicycles and e-bikes can bestored at the facility at any one time, ready for dispatch to stores and customers across the region.

The company uses the logistics space to stock its vast and growing inventory, which now includes more than 50 bicycle brands, making it the largest selection in the Lake Constance region. Top brands include Cube, Scott, KTM, Focus, GHOST, Flyer, Stromer, Riese & Müller, Pegasus, and Bulls – names that reflect Zweirad Joos’ commitment to quality and innovation.

“The Gottmadingen Industrial Park provides us with the perfect infrastructure for storage, logistics, warehouse sales, as well as workshop and repair operations. Its excellent transport connections and proximity to our Radolfzell headquarters make it an ideal base. The high ceilings and options for future expansion are further benefits,” said Andreas Joos, Zweirad Joos owner and son of the company’s founder.

The site’s location – just off the A81 motorway and B34 federal road – enables swift deliveries to the company’s branches in Immenstaad, Konstanz, and Ravensburg. A further logistical advantage is the absence of public through traffic in the industrial park, allowing trucks and delivery vehicles to be loaded and unloaded with maximum efficiency.

“Gottmadingen Industrial Park is a dynamic, multi-tenant location that continues to attract businesses from a wide range of sectors. More than 100 companies are based here, from research and development and hydraulic systems to chemical manufacturing, logistics firms, and even law firms and insurance providers,” said Ulrike Haack, Mileway Country Director Germany.

Looking to the future, Zweirad Joos remains committed to becoming the region’s premier destination for bicycles, e-bikes, and sustainable mobility. Its expansive product range spans from children’s bikes to high-end racing models, including folding bikes, S-pedelecs, and pre-owned options. The company actively promotes sustainability through over 20 used bike exchange events each year, encouraging the resale and reuse of bikes.

“We have two key priorities: attracting more skilled workers and finding the perfect business neighbour. A company in the caravanning or camping industry would be an ideal fit. Together, we could create exciting offers for outdoor enthusiasts,” said Andreas Joos.

With strategic support from Mileway and a clear vision for the future, Zweirad Joos is well-positioned to lead the charge in sustainable mobility – pedal stroke by pedal stroke.
