Berlin, Germany, 28 September 2026 – Mileway, Europe’s leading last-mile logistics real estate company, has held a groundbreaking ceremony for Neubau am Holzhauser Markt in Berlin-Reinickendorf, marking an important project milestone ahead of construction beginning in October 2026.

Local residents, district representatives and members of the Mileway project team attended the ceremony, to mark an important milestone in the regeneration of the Holzhauser Markt site.

Neubau am Holzhauser Markt will transform a brownfield site into a modern logistics development designed to support businesses serving Berlin and the surrounding region.

Located around 10 km from Berlin’s city centre, the site benefits from access to the B96 and A111, as well as strong public transport connections. Its location and adaptable design will make the development suitable for a range of uses, including urban logistics, regional distribution, fulfilment, and service-related businesses.

The development will provide around 11,300 sq m of lettable space, with a clear internal height of 10.20 metres. It will feature 11 truck docks, four level-access doors and at least two dock levellers per unit, alongside generous truck manoeuvring areas and extensive car and truck parking.

Designed to operate 24/7, the space will feature LED lighting and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. A photovoltaic system covering approximately 3,300 sq m is also planned, and the development is targeting BREEAM “Very Good” certification.

The groundbreaking ceremony provided an opportunity to recognise the people and partnerships behind the project, share its vision and celebrate its contribution to the future of Holzhauser Markt.

Emine Demirbüken-Wegner, Mayor of the Berlin-Reinickendorf district, said:

“Holzhauser Markt has a long history as a place of business and employment in Reinickendorf. This development will bring a brownfield site back into productive use, create modern space for companies and support the district’s continued economic development.”
