The Midlands has excellent transport connections

The Midlands features the ‘Golden Triangle of Logistics’. This 289-mile area includes Birmingham, Nottingham, and Leicester, even stretching to Northampton in the west. With ample commercial warehouse and office space, this space has helped make the Midlands a major hotspot for logistics and distribution.

Key transport routes like the M1, M6, and M42 give Midlands-based businesses access to 90% of the UK’s population in four hours or less. This provides further connectivity to major UK coastal ports, including the Port of Grimsby and Immingham, which handled 11% of UK tonnage traffic in 2023. The region also hosts a number of major airports, including Birmingham, Nottingham, and East Midlands, the UK’s second busiest airport for freight.
