An excellent network of major roads and railways connects the North East, including the East Coast Main Line which connects London to Edinburgh and runs through key cities such as Doncaster, York, Darlington, Durham and Newcastle.

Mirroring the East Coast Main Line is the A1(M) – the North East’s main arterial carriageway. Running from north to south, it connects Scotland to Yorkshire and beyond, eventually meeting the M1. A second north-south dual carriageway link is provided by the A19, which serves Sunderland, Teesside and Peterlee before meeting the A1 at Seaton Burn.
