Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Mileway, the leading pan-European last mile logistics real estate company, has broken ground on a Build to Suit (BTS) redevelopment of Westhavenweg 53-54 in one of Amsterdam’s key logistics hubs.
Two existing assets will be transformed into a single 8,700 sqm warehouse and office facility for Nihot Recycling Technology, a global leader in air separation technology and long-term Mileway customer. Scheduled for completion in Q2 2026, the company’s new headquarters will increase production and testing capacity while enhancing efficiency, workflows, storage, and automation.
The redeveloped, fully electric facility will be energy-neutral in operation with an A energy label, helping to significantly reduce the company’s ecological footprint. Features will include solar panels, LED lighting, EV charging stations, heat pumps and rainwater collection systems.
Amsterdam Westpoort is adjacent to the Port of Amsterdam and 15 minutes from the city centre with direct connectivity to the A10 and A5 motorways.
“This project demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customers’ long-term, sustainable growth with modern logistics facilities in strategic urban locations. We are proud to support Nihot’s expansion and ambitions to drive greater efficiency across its supply chain,” said Wouter Dijkman, Mileway Country Director the Netherlands.
“For over 80 years, Nihot has been a proudly Amsterdam company – and we want to keep it that way. Amsterdam is a great city to welcome customers, but it’s also a challenging place to relocate a manufacturing company. Mileway has been a committed partner by helping us find the right location and working closely with us to develop a modern facility that will support our operations for many years to come,” said Geert Slootweg, Nihot Recycling Technology Managing Director.
