Mileway, the leading pan-European last mile logistics real estate company, has completed a refurbishment project to improve the energy efficiency and environmental impact of its warehouse in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom.

Following the seven-month renovation, the c.42,700 sq ft logistics unit at Tongwell 42 has been awarded an EPC A rating. Energy efficiency improvements to the property include the installation of LED lighting, as well as rooftop solar panels.

Covering c. 6,000 sq ft of roof space, the PV system is expected to generate 108,000 kWh of solar energy in its first year and save more than c.51,000kg of CO2 emissions – equivalent to planting an average of 2,300 trees.

EV chargers have been installed in the car park for customers to make use of environmentally friendly transportation options. The renovations also include improvements to the property’s layout, repairs to the interior and exterior surfaces, new doors, and the addition of a first-floor office with air conditioning.

Its easy access to London and other major cities has positioned Milton Keynes as a key business and employment hub, with the local economy growing faster than the UK average*.

Tongwell 42 is a short walk from Milton Keynes Central railway station which provides mainline direct services to London Euston (fastest journey time 35 minutes) and Birmingham New Street (fastest journey time 45 minutes). By Bus, Tongwell 42 is served by regular services to Tongwell Roundabout West, a short walk from the premises.

Andrew Jones, Managing Director at Mileway UK, said “This project is a great example of Mileway’s ambition to add value to existing logistics sites in the UK’s best locations. Our customers are increasingly seeking properties that help them achieve their own sustainability goals and the improvements to Tongwell 42 make it highly suitable for businesses looking to make the switch to renewable energy and enjoy the associated cost savings.”
