Køge, Denmark – Mileway, the leading pan-European last mile logistics real estate company, has signed a lease with Røde Kors (Red Cross) for modern storage, distribution and office space at an established logistics hub northwest of Køge supporting their humanitarian and fundraising operations.
The c. 5,000 sqm last mile facility at Sleipnersvej 2 is ideally suited to efficient logistics and distribution operations, with direct access to the national motorways and the Køge city centre.
The fully secured property includes functional warehouse space with a clear height of 7.2 metres under concrete beams, concrete flooring with a load capacity of up to 5 tonnes per sqm and a full sprinkler system. It offers well-equipped goods delivery and parking facilities, with loading and unloading via ramps and a total of seven dock levellers and dock doors across all warehouse areas.
Røde Kors will operate two key functions from the last mile space. Its Disaster Relief Warehouse will serve as a central storage facility, handling procurement, inspection and repackaging to ensure equipment and supplies are ready for rapid deployment. Its recycling centre will optimise processes across its nationwide network of shops by supplying second-hand goods for resale, collecting surplus clothing and managing the delivery of collection containers, supporting both recycling, fundraising and volunteer efforts.
“Røde Kors plays a critical role in supporting communities in need, and efficient logistics is essential to enabling this. Our last mile logistics site in Køge provides strategically located, functional space to store and dispatch essential goods, supporting both humanitarian response and circular economy activities that help vital services reach those who need them most. We are proud to play a role in supporting their work and look forward to building a long-term partnership,” said Thomas Lauritsen, Mileway Country Director Denmark and Finland.
