Mileway B.V., the leading pan-European last mile logistics real estate company, today announces it has agreed leases for more than 21,000 sq m with four leading third-party logistics (3PL) operators across Italy
Mileway has seen a steady increase in demand for last mile space from 3PL operators across Italy since the company was launched in September 2019, primarily driven by the accelerating shift to e-commerce and the need for businesses to stock their products closer to their customers. Italy has one of the lowest rates of e-commerce penetration in Europe and is therefore expected to experience some of the strongest growth over the next few years.
Following the increased enquiry levels Mileway has signed four leases with:
- Tiesse Spa, an Italian 3PL operator, for 8,700 sq m at San Giuliano Milanese (Milan), who will move their HQ to the property.
- Logistika, an Italian 3PL operator, for 2,100 sq m, in Genoa. This is a unique asset within very close proximity to Genoa Port, from where Logistika will provide custom services to goods moving through the port.
- GLS Italy, the Italian arm of international express courier GLS, for 4,100 sq m, in Sant Andrea delle Fratte (Perugia). GLS will use it as a distribution point to serve customers in the Perugia area.
- The Italian arm of an international 3PL operator, for 6,200 sq m in San Giuliano Milanese (Milan). The asset is very close to the city centre, a key feature that attracted the customer to the site, who will use it to serve business customers in the Milan area.
“Mileway has a strong and growing business in Italy and we are proud to be the partner of choice for a broad range of companies.”
Mario Costa, Country Director Italy
Prior to the leases being signed, the assets had been fully refurbished by Mileway to bring them to a high-quality, modern standard. Since October 2019, Mileway has grown its Italian portfolio to comprise a diverse range of 46 assets, totaling more than 350,000 sq m, providing tenants with a range of space and the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
Mario Costa, Country Director Italy, said: “We are delighted to have agreed these four leases in the last few weeks, demonstrating the growing demand for last mile logistics space across Italy and our focus on supporting our customers. Mileway has a strong and growing business in Italy and we are proud to be the partner of choice for a broad range of companies. Businesses increasingly recognise the importance of having their products closer to their customers and we are able to provide high-quality assets in prime locations across Europe. We are committed to helping our customers prosper and to better connect them to the consumers and local communities they serve.”
